Kah and Hickmott fire at Ballarat
South Australian trainer Michael Hickmott could not have asked for a better trip across the Victorian border, landing a treble at Ballarat.
Hickmott took a team of three horses from his base at Murray Bridge – Togetherforever, Spirit Of Camelot and High Five – who were all successful in maiden class races on Wednesday’s program.
The three horses were sent out favourite in their respective races and were all ridden to victory by former South Australian Jamie Kah.
Hickmott said he was planning on more trips across the border to chase Victorian prize money saying he was on the right-side Adelaide to make those hit-and-run visits.
“It’s been a great day,” Hickmott told racing.com.
“It’s something I’m looking at growing, bringing more horses to Victoria.
“Ballarat is a place I intend on having a base at over the next 12 months, a small base, but a growing base.
“It’s great to come over here and access great prize money, get a rider of Jamie’s quality to jump on, and bring them over and be successful.
“To bring three runners over here, for three winners, I’ve got to thank the wonderful crew at home.
“We train on a property. It’s growing and days like this make it worth it.”
Kah won the first four races on Wednesday’s program, guiding home Snack Bar in the third race on the card after Hickmott’s success in three of the first four races.
