Filly keeps unbeaten record up in Gosford Guineas

Winners win, as they say, and in three outings so far, Dance To The Boom is proving just that after her victory in the Listed Gosford Guineas (1200m) at Wyong.

After wins at Kembla Grange and Canterbury, Bjorn Baker now has some decisions to make for the daughter of Exceedance with richer autumn options ahead or Gold Coast features including the $3 million Magic Millions 3yo Guineas (1400m) in ten days’ time.

Purchased for $250,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale in January 2023, Dance To The Boom ($2.90) held off an eye-catching finish by the David Payne-trained Shohisha ($5.50) by 3/4-length margin with Baker’s stablemate Midnight Dynamite ($1.70 favourite) in third in the field of five runners.

“She’s got a lot of natural class about her,” jockey Rachel King said of the winning filly.

“She’s still got a lot to learn. I knew the stablemate was going to be tough to beat and when he quickened around the corner, I knew she wouldn’t quicken as well as him.

“She’s a big filly with a massive stride on her and I love her attitude with a real will to win.”

Having won by short margins at her previous two starts, King added that bigger tracks would allow the filly to put a little more of a gap on her rivals.

Prior to the race, Dance To The Boom was rated a $26 chance for the 3yo Guineas on January 11 and has since firmed to $15.

Magic Millions Wyong 3&4yo Guineas (1200m) winner Bauhania holds favouritism at $5.

Also on the card, the Chris Waller-trained Konasana($7) turned around a winless spring run into summer success in the Group 3 Belle Of The Turf Stakes (1625m).

Carrying 60-kilos, the four-year-old mare had the task of reeling in tearaway leader Redbreast ($4 favourite) who stayed on to finish second.
